It was my great pleasure this week to appear on the Reading Sirens Podcast to discuss my sci-fi/ historical fiction mashup novels IT GIVES YOU STRENGTH and HARVESTING EARTHLINGS. To listen to the podcast, simply click on the link below and it will take you to the Reading Sirens link tree page where you can select whether you wish to listen to the podcast on either Apple, Spotify, or a host of other #podcast #interview platforms.

The podcast will address the first two books of the “Strength” trilogy, which follows retired Army Major turned bootlegger Mike Kelly and alien anthropologist Tashan Zho through three of the most tumultuous decades in American history. IT GIVES YOU STRENGTH is a mashup of science fiction, historical fiction, and fantasy set in prohibition-era New York. Zho is sent to the primitive planet Earth and winds up in the middle of a gang war for control of the NY/Canada rum smuggling routes.

In Book Two, “Harvesting Earthlings for Fun and Profit” it is 1934 in America, the height of the Great Depression. Dr. Zho is a refugee from his once idyllic planet Dagan. The planet is now run by a brutal dictator who uses an alien form of the Roman coliseum to distract the mere citizens of Dagan from the deterioration of their basic civil rights, while he consolidates his control over the planet. When the dictator Arixn learns that the Daganians are running low on gladiators, he decides to embark on The Harvest Project. The Daganians intend to capture Earthlings to fight in the New Coliseum. Dr. Zho and Mike Kelly oppose Arixn’s plan and enlist the assistance of historical figures Jack Dempsey, Edith Cavell, and J. Edgar Hoover. In addition, they interact with George Patton, Douglas MacArthur, and gangsters John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd and Baby Face Nelson.

Brown is currently writing Book 3 of the Strength Trilogy and hopes to have it completed by Holiday season of 2023.
