Hicks Orchard and Slyboro Ciderhouse will be hosting authors Philip Raymond Brown and Kevin Wilson for a family friendly evening of Books, Bootleggers and Barbecue on July 1 from 6 to 8:30 pm.
Brown, a native son of Granville, will be discussing his best selling novel “It Gives You Strength”. The event will also be a prelaunch of the sequel to be released this fall “Harvesting Earthlings For Fun and Profit”. “It Gives You Strength” is set in 1926, the height of Prohibition, and follows an alien caught in a gang war for control of the Canada to NY bootlegging market. Legend has it that the alien, Tashan Zho, and one bootlegger, Major Mike Kelly hid alien and gangster relics around the Orchard. A scavenger hunt will be held that evening to find the ancient alien and bootlegger relics.
Kevin Wilson, who was raised in Granville and Saratoga, will also be appearing that evening to discuss his World War II epic novel “Sully’s Squad”.
In addition to the discussion of books there will be many family friendly events including a costume contest, a scavenger hunt. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. All guests are encouraged to join in the fun dressed as aliens, bootleggers, FBI agents, Soldiers, gangsters or any other costume you desire.
The event is free and open to the public but seating is limited. We do ask that you call and reserve a seat. Please call 518-642-1788 to reserve your seats.
